Video Idea - New iPad Mini as a Phone for a Week

Teched Out

With the hype around the new iPad Mini, this could be a popular and entertaining video

I'm aware this is not the first small, cellular tablet. I sill have (but don't use) an Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet.
I just think the interest around the Galaxy Fold, combined with the interest around the new iPad Mini could make this a fun video/concept.

cant fit in a pocket so it's super impractical to bring with you

and it can't take phone calls.

it's not a replacement for a phone.

Neither can a Galaxy Fold, for a lot of people.
I find the idea of pocketing a Fold to be ridiculous.

I did not realise it could not receive calls.

You know the fold can.....fold, right?

Are you really comparing the pocketability of these two devices?

The fold, folded, is smaller than the note 20 (non-ultra) and the max versions of any iphone. I'm assuming you're fairly young and dont remember the days of mobile phones that were thicker than the fold while folded.

My Fiio M11 Pro is thicker than the fold and i have zero issues with pocketing it.

You can use your iPad with eSIM or Apple SIM. You can use Wi-Fi Calling on these devices, even if your iPhone isn't on the same Wi-Fi Network or turned on.

All I read looks like you need iPhone at some point to enable calls on iPad. Shame, it was the 1st apple product I didn't instantly disregard.

I suspect it's not as simple as flicking a switch and enabling calls... patent licenses, optimizing software, that sort of thing. With that said, it's not hard to imagine some people keeping an iPad at home or in their bag and using an Apple Watch if they really don't want to carry anything in their hands.
