CPU upgrade for a Dedicated VM Server (4x diffrent game servers in 1 computer).

Feros Uchiki

Hello there!
I've set up a Proxmox Server and wondering about upgrading the CPU.
It's a dedicated game server, gonna be running 4x servers in VM
1. Space Engineers, up to 10 people,15+ mods (Yes, I'm silly but alot is quality of life)
2. Minecraft for up to 20 people, some mods (GF wants a server xD)
3. Rust for up to 20 people
4. A Maplestory server (Dont judge!)

As its now I've got a  i7-6700, will have 32gb's of ram so each should get 8gb's of ram. So far the SE server is the only server running and running stable at 8gb's of ram and 2 cores but that is with 2 people 😛

I dont have money to buy a damn Xeon prossessor so tips for a cpu that I dont need a lottery win to buy is great 😄

Thanks in advance!
And sorry in advance, English is not my native language 🙂

Ryzen 9 5900X/5950X/3900X

Or for 'budget': Ryzen 7 5800X/3800XT/3800X

Or for intel. I9 9900K, I9 10900K (not too good with intel)

Edit: for AMD you need AM4 socket and new mobo.

Minecraft and Rust alone uses up a significant chunk of CPU power, I am not sure about the other games but question here is will you host 50 people all at once? if that is the case, you wont be doing this for cheap.

Space Engineers uses alot aswell, more demanding than rust 😛 Minecraft I'm not sure about as the worlds gets quite big but Space Engineers again is unlimited and have several planets, but I've locked it to only using two cores, and it works fine. I'm probally do as Centigrams recommended a Ryzen 9 5950x as it have lots of cores and threads 🙂

how fast is your internet connection?

for so many servers you will run out of upload before your CPU becomes the limit.
