Windows 11 is not working properly

My friend's laptop is using windows 11 build 22000.160. When he opened his laptop today, it suddenly stop working and he got notice windows explorer is not working so he shutdown and open back but the apps in taskbar are missing and he can't open start menu. he can't open any apps even using the desktop shortcut or keyboard shortcut.

Windos 11 is still in very early development, should roll back to Win 10

i can't roll back cuz i can't open settings i can only do a clean install windows 10 but there are some important files that i need.

Can you not open taskmanger? I only heard of Windows 11 like 2 days ago. In 10 there is many ways to access things without have things in front of you. Powershell? Command Prompt? Safe mode? etc

I have the same problem I am not happy.  I cannot reverse the update, it keeps coming back.  I have no way to get to the Windows 10 rollback I need a command prompt string to run.  half the control panel stuff won't run.  I could run Chrome from Task Manager, but the KB doesn't work.  From Edge I can type & go places.  But right now my system is basically unusable & I need to restore.  I could only restore to a couple of days ago, but that does not fix it & is goes back to todays update anyway.

Update: Edge freezes after a while.  All corners are not rounded anymore either.

i can open task manager by using ctrl+alt+del and i can also enter safe mode but its still the same even in the safe mode.  i can open command prompt from advance startup.i tried troubleshhot but it say that windows can repair log file:c:\windows\ system32/logifles/srt/srtTrail.txt

Hi. I have this problem also and unable to run command prompt etc as short cuts don't work. However, I tried signing in under a different account and the PC works fine. though still not sure how to rectify the problem which appears to be account specific

Yes, that works here too   But some apps are not working

UPDATE: My WinTV app will only allow one instance to run & the other profile was running it & now works .... but how do we un corrupt the user account?

no, its not. Its bassically a finished product, to com out in about a month....

I don't know. I don't pay attention to tech stuff like I used to. I only found out cause I was having trouble so I started looking up stuff again. I haven't been attentive since like 2018

Edit: Speaking of which I still use 1809, no thanks new windows. Screw updates.

How? Win11 has been al over the internet, inckuding a leaked dev build over 2 months ago

i reset his pc and keep all the files it working well now and he can open windows security now since before he can't find windows security in the windows 11 build. after reset the pc i updated the windows 11 to the latest build and it works fine now . maybe it it's a minor error in 22000.160 build since it is still preview build. thank for your supports

Hi Jon, Not sure. this problem is a bit over my head. I have noticed that the start experience process was suspended (using task manager which is the only functionallity i have with my primarry user account). there was no option to restart it so I have cancelled it and in the process or restarting my machine. ill let you know if I have any luck Cheers Carl

UPDATE 7:10PM PDT: Recently, Windows Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels began reporting that Start and Taskbar were unresponsive and Settings and other areas of the OS wouldn’t load. We quickly discovered an issue with a server-side deployment that went out to Insiders and canceled that deployment. If you were impacted by this issue, you can use the following steps to get back into a working state on your PC.

• Step 1: Use CTRL-ALT-DEL and choose to open Task Manager.
• Step 2: Choose “More details” at the bottom of Task Manager to expand Task Manager.
• Step 3: Go to “File” and choose “Run new task”.
• Step 4: Type “cmd” in the “Open” field.
• Step 5: Paste the following (everything in bold):
  reg delete HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IrisService /f && shutdown -r -t 0
• Step 6: Hit enter, and then your PC should reboot. After rebooting, everything should be back to normal.

For next time, Microsoft makes it clear that it recommends to have a good backup solution, and expect data loss and unexpected reinstall at any moment. This time you were lucky that MS had a fix.

 

If you don't have anything, then upload everything important to OneDrive. Office 365 users (now called Microsoft 365) have 1TB. Students have their subscription for free (or near that) for 5PCs via their school, including universities.
