New case fans

Fyzckz

I am trying to find new 120mm case fans for my pc since my current ones have been too loud, I have 2 fans in the front with an AIO radiator, a rear exhaust  and a top exhaust. I have gone through tons of reviews and they all give me different answers, I am looking for something that's around $25 per fan, if cheaper that makes it better. Any helps appreciated, thanks.

Noctua NF-F12 PWM if you're pushing through a radiator; NF-S12 PWM if you're not. Both come in non-brown options via the Chromax line if you are concerned.

EDIT: NF-A14 if you want a bigger exhaust (this one's 140 mm)

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

ok thanks, would it be bad for like having positive air pressure or what not, to have a 140mm output but 120mm inputs?

Case air pressure (positive or negative) is blown WAY out of proportion. I would not worry about it in the slightest.

Adequate and efficient air flow is far more important. Efficient meaning a relatively straight path from intake to exhaust without creating a ton of turbulent zones. Your front intake and rear/top exhaust sounds just fine.

I have x3 120 mm intake and x1 140mm exhaust, but the ONLY reason is that more/bigger fans can be run slower to get similar airflow with less noise. I hate noise. That's why I love Noctua.

Embrace the brown.

The 140 you suggested looks like a completely different design than the 120, would you say the 120 design is better or it doesn't matter, like the pressure

The S12A is specifically for free-flowing case application (i.e. NOT on a radiator). The blades are steeper to provide more air flow.

The F12 and A14 will have similar blade geometry. It sounded like you were using your front AIO radiator fans as intake, so I'd recommend the F12 for that location.

yeah radiator is on the front with 2 120mm, the only place that can I might put a 140 would be on my top exhaust.

If you keep both the rear and top exhaust it's really up to you if you want a 140 mm on the top. Won't make much of a difference. If you only have one or the other I'd recommend the 140 mm.

There are other great fan options out there, but I will recommend Noctua all day every day. Other's may chime in with some other good options if you're not in an immediate hurry to order 🙂

Embrace the brown. I really only hear my GPU fans. I wouldn't worry too much about a 140 unless you know you have room for it. Just get the F12s for your AIO and the S12 for the rest of the case slots, or just run F12 all the way around. That's what I've got in my case.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

It used to be. I got tired of running every fan at full speed and I was hitting OTP on my PSU. If I ran the 5800x stock my PSU would over heat. I haven't updated since I really got to try out the new case and fans, but there's some temperature readings in the build log.

If you're looking for a budget, but still highly recommended fan look into the Arctic P12, they're also a high static pressure fan so they'd do well with your AIO.

Can I ask what RPM those fans are spinning at during idle & load scenarios? & if you have a decibel level you’ve tested at for both idle/load, I’d be interested in that too.

Arctic p12 or scythe wonder snail for value

Phanteks t30 for the ultimate silence and performance

You can consider other fans like the thermaltake toughfan, ek vardar, noctua nf a12x25, gentle typhoon and thermalright tl b12.

Please be aware that the noctua and phanteks fans might be out of the budget range.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

Specs and temps? Have you tried lowering fan speeds?
