The PSU is not great, there can be more affordable models had with more wattage. That also perform great. Like the Corsair RM850x.

The CPU is okay, but for purely gaming I'd also go 5600X. At your budget the 5900X seems more sensible. So why not go for that?

Damn that GPU price is hefty... over 50% of your budget spend on not even the most high end graphics card available. I'd go for the 3080TI in a non white enclosure.

The motherboard is fine, I think you can save a few bucks there.

Case and storage are a good choice, I'd choose something similar.

For ram, go with at least 3600MHz. Ryzen runs faster with faster memory, so 3600MHz is the sweet spot of price and performance.

For that price, you can get an AIO, like the liquid freezer, that will run cooler and better. If you want white, corsair has a few white AIO's.

Budget (including currency): 3000

Country: CAN

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA gaming and getting into VR

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Got a current system with a 500gb 2.5 inch ssd,2TB HDD, 2 560TIs in SLI, i7, but its all 7 years or so old.  Will likely just throw the drives in but won't likely reuse the rest.

id honestly get the 5900x over the 5800x or just get the 5600x. Its an odd price for 8 cores.

You seem to really want ASus parts. is there a  reason why you are overspending an absolute fuckton on that GPU and PSU?

Id reccomend a  different cooler, NHD15 or DR Pro, or an AIO 280/360.

I'd go with the 5900x too, the 5800x is a great chip though but runs hot.

Proud owner of a custom water cooled Ryzen 1400. 5800x

It's even more, too. The $1500 he has listed isn't even what it is going for now-a-days. On Newegg it is $1900
