multi core routers?

so im in the process of taking my net plus and im learning about some high end cisco routers that have "multicore" and other nifty feature sets.

My question is why would you need a multi core router for a soho network?(the chapter im learning about these multi core routers is in soho)(soho= Small office/home office). Also with multi core routers is there any reason I should just go up to ncix and get one for my home network? (not that i ever would just a question).

e-peen? and what other uses does it have? just like hard core firewall port fowarding ???????????

Active Anti-Virus, Intrusion Protection/Detection, Proxy Server, Tracking bandwidth usages, content filtering, VPN server, Load balancing.

Almost all new consumer routers have dual-core ARM chips from Broadcom which is all you really need, the Cisco routers are for medium to large enterprise networks were you need things such as SNMP, STP, SysLog NetFlow ,Multi-Area OSPF and full control over VLANS and NAT etc.
