hi, is there some kind of tool or recommended website that can provide a GOOD, if not accurate, measure of what wattage of psu i should be getting.

i know there are several websites, but they all gave me quite different answers, so that's why i'm asking if anybody here has solid recommended website or tool.

thanks.

I've always used Seasonic wattage calculator. So far i've found it nearly accurate. The website though seems to have been changed now and doesn't work anymore for me. So i use the bequiet! one

I'd use the Seasonic one, and then add a fair bit for safety. It also largely depends on overclocking, etc, something you need to look into and estimate yourself.

You shouldn't buy a PSU that barely meets your systems needs.

What it tells you to get and what your system actually draws differs. What does it show your system wattage as?

Two 1080Ti's on an 8700k? I wouldn't do anything below 850w, that's for sure.

This is the issue in the website I was talking about. Which is why i recommended the bequiet one. Both were about the same give or take some.

image.thumb.png.be19ea0e819fd292196b39cdf543c2a7.pngThis is what the bequiet one suggests, so i'd get a 850W PSU at the least given you haven't OCed your parts heavily.

1300w because it's a Seasonic. Some models fail with high-end GPUs. A 1300w Seasonic is needed where you can run it with a 850 - 1000w Corsair.

it recommends a 1000w psu, but 850w should be sufficient. how much headroom do people usually leave regarding power supply? as bequiet puts it, what's a healthy % of " load " ?

thanks.

If you have, say, a 760W estimate, then I would go with a 850W, I generally look for atleast 100-150W of headroom. Also for future-proofing a bit. Tho If you can snag a 1000W one, you'll be safe and happy for the next few years of upgrades

just out of curiosity, what devices or peripherals can 100w - 150w accommodate? few extra fans? extra aio cooler? extra storage? extreme oc?

thanks.

Yeah maybe a few fans and a couple or hdds more, with a bit of oc on the cpu or gpu. Not much, but that's headroom so that if your gpu or cpu spikes up in power draw, it doesn't crash your pc
