@Senzelian Yes the PM9A1 isn't a 980 pro. Although people referring to it as OEM 980 pro there are minor differences.

As it is unlikely that your PS5 will write that much and notice the differences you could safe a few bucks and buy the PM9A1.

For the version numbers above they might be region related and with Samsung (at least in the past) you might not get the warranty if it is from the wrong region.

I know, I own a 2TB PM9A1 myself.
But the model numbers are not about that drive. That's the point.

why the price difference then? its 120$

I wish I knew...

Maybe amazon is just retarded. That's the most likely.

The  PM9A1 is very similar to the 980 pro. The major difference is the warranty between the PM9A1 and retail 980 pro.

This isn't about the PM9A1. The PM9A1 has the product code MZVL21T0HCLR-00B00

The MZ-V8P1T0B/AM and MZ-V8P1T0BW appear on the spec sheet for the 980Pro as the same drive:

The BW and B/AM could relate to a different production plant or assembly line.
I don't think there is any difference in hardware or performance.
