what are the specs of the computer? I'm thinking Office 97 but AFAIK wouldn't work with anything over Windows 7 32 bit, plus, you know, it's... old.

I use that on my college laptop, it's not that good compared to relatively newer versions but at least I can work with docs and powerpoint files if I need to hook it up to a projector or larger screen.

I was gonna be even more evil and suggest wordstar.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I did too actually.  I was warming up a “men’s warehouse” joke, but then I read the body copy.

Here's a lightweight one:

I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.

MKBHD is but an Apple propagandist and fanboy. Take his videos with a grain of salt, especially about anything Apple. In his video titled "I Visited Apple's Secret iPhone Testing Labs!", he has shown that he makes no effort to fact check Apple's claims, and takes it at face value. I do not believe he can be trusted as an Reviewer/Influencer.

Those jokes would work if only this wasn't the software section.... Which makes it quite clear what I'm looking for.... Though i will give an E for effort.

The only thing i could think for now is free office, which i will probably test.

PS: the pc ain't the problem, so far I'm running windows 7 but i will probably go back to 10 in the coming weeks, the thing is i rarely use office expect for some lists and tables i make for myself (and which i need to remake them anyway). Which is why I'm looking for the most simple solution, which doesn't keep bothering me about updates, donations or loads things with windows and takes as little ssd space as possible.

PS2: ms office 97.might.not be a bad idea to test it, after all I'm still using winamp 2.95 just fine....

Is there any specs for this machine? Or some other reason why LibreOffice doesn't work for you? Or why you couldn't use Google Suite or Office Online?

Its a decent pc, that has no issue running things.

Weirdly Libre just doesn't feel as snappy and fast as for instance office 365 (which i feel like its bloated), i dislike the messages for donations and updates and i also feel that something even simpler might be better as i just use excel/calc for making some personal very simple lists.

For now i'm thinking of looking up:

-Free Office

-office xp or 2003 (as 97 might be to old)

I don't like online solution, i prefer local ones.
