I just ordered the parts for my first custom PC build (see list Here) and I have a few questions.

1: I do not have an overclockable CPU but I was curious if that restricted my ability to OC my RAM and GPU too or, would I be able to overclock other compentents that weren't the CPU

2: I know my motherboard has wifi but I'm not 100% sure about Bluetooth. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't but it would be nice.

3: The GTX 1060 is a fairly old card at this point and it certainly wasn't flagship when it was released. But from what I have seen it will run most games at 1080p med/high setting and still get 60fps, is this true? If not what are some more accurate expectations.

4: What components should I consider upgrading first? I expect to upgrade my gpu in a year or so to a 3060ti or mabey a 3070 but is there something I should be either more worried about or that should be a priority after the gpu upgrade?

5: What are some good recommendations for step by step build guides?

I plan on running windows (I tryed Linux on my old laptop and I didn't have a good experience) and the primary use for this build is for gaming and school stuff if that's relevant.

Thanks in advance for any advice/ answers!

1. 10th gen Intel locks both CPU multiplier and memory. You're limited to 2667 MHz memory because of the CPU. GPU is independent, you'll be able to OC that.

2. Yes. It's Bluetooth Capable.

I'll let someone else answer the other questions.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora

Hi,

3. 1060 6GB should still be fine for some medium 1080p gaming.  3GB is starting to show it's age

4. GPU definately.  CPU will be fine for a couple more years.

5.  LTT has tons.  Just search for them on the channel.

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Thanks man. A bit disappointed that the  ram speed is so low but it shouldn't be a huge deal.

As far as I know, the B560 will allow you to take your RAM past JDEC standards and to the 3200 mhz. When you get the build together, it'll either let you set XMP to 2666 or 3200, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to go to 3200 mhz.

Which 1060 do you have? 6gb or 3gb?

Storage. You'll run out of storage fast. The next would depend on what resolution you want to play at. Stay at 1080p? CPU first probably. 1440p or 4k? GPU.

There's many online. If it's not said so in the guide, build on the motherboard box first. Motherboard, CPU/cooler, PSU, storage, GPU and RAM. Make sure it POSTs and then install Windows while you start setting up fans in your case and figuring out cable management. Take it slow. Have the motherboard manual out and just follow it step by step. That motherboard has color coded RAM slots, you'll want to put your RAM in both the grey slots. When you go to install your motherboard in the case, you should only have to remove the GPU. The cooler makes a handy handle for holding onto the upper side of the motherboard. Do the front panel connectors sooner than later. Many small connectors going near each other and other cables will make it hard to see them.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

I have the 3gb 1060. It's about a 10-15% performance different according to userbenchmark.com and about a 20-30% price difference on ebay so I decided it wasnt worth spending the extra for a 6gb, especially since I planned on upgrading.

Storage I figure I'll upgrade whenever I run out, Its a cheap and easy upgrade so I'm not too concerned about it.

I will probably stick to 1080p for gaming, content consumption would be the only reason for me to go 1440p and beyond.

Thanks for the build advice too. I knew to use the mobo box but I wouldn't have thought about front panel connectors until it was too late.

userbenchmark is bad btw, get a harddrive instead of buying a brand new nvme,

I didn't know userbenchmark was bad, whoops. And wdym buy a hard drive? The only good reason to buy one if for mass storage because they're so slow. Especially with how cheap ssd's are getting.

if your going to have a lot of games just put them on a hdd unless your fine paying more for a ssd. 2tereabytes on a hdd is 60 canadian dolars 2 terabytes of ssd is at least 250 canadian dollars. just make sure windows is on a ssd and you will be mostly fine

HDD's are much cheaper for large amounts of storage, but for 1tb drives and smaller the difference isn't usually that much. And I'm plenty willing to pay an extra 20 bucks or so for many times the speed.

it wont make much diffrence if its a secondary storage but if you only need 500gb more totally go for the ssd.
