I'm flexible with changing around the build, the main thing I'm looking to figure out is if it makes sense to wait a year and a half or so for next gen hardware. The real question to ask is this: "Is my computer capable of handling the tasks I ask of it?". If the answer to that question is yes, then there's not really any need to upgrade. If history is any indicator, the first generation or two of DDR5 platforms will be a dumpster fire. I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
