So ussually in games my CPU temp is about 67-70'C.

CPU is Ryzen 5 3600

Today when i was playing NFS Heat i noticed it was 71'C and then it spiked quickly from 71'C to 81'C and then immediately it dropped from 81'C to 71'C.

Is this normal ? I checked again a few times and it was still 71'C while playing but what about that spike ?

Also how do i know if it stayed continuously like 10-15 minutes at 81'C all the time or if that was just a spike ?

Any way i could find out if there were multiple spikes ?

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this.

What cooler is it?

If it's stock cooler then it's "normal" and totally fine

Iirc you could use hwinfo to make a log of cpu temps, though don't ask me on the specific

I have no idea, how much should my CPU be utilized while gaming ?

I did notice though that CPU fan when gaming is at 100% - not sure if this helps or not.

first of all: what's your ambient temperature?

that spiking is normal, as the die is slightly off center, those spikes usually happen when a core closer to the edge of the cooler is stressed.

about the temp: 81c is a lil high, but nothing to worry about.

given that you are using that Shadow Rock LP those temps are absolutely where i would expect them

about HWinfo:

you just start the program, and it will give you "current" "min" "max" and "average" temps.

Well not it's not necessarily a bad cooler, i mean it keeps your cpu temps under 90c under load

Its hard to answer as i didn't know how much "X" cpu will get utilized on "X" games, so yeah, it's pretty hard for me to answer although my rule of thumb is that it shouldn't be below 40 to 50%

It's not a bad cooler, it's just not a high performance cooler. Its advantage is that it's a low profile cooler. If you can fit a bigger cooler, it's probably going to be a better option (I wouldn't bother though, your temps aren't that bad).

Ideally it should be 100% CPU and 100% GPU, however that's very rare. It really depends on the game. Doom Eternal I'd expect somewhere around 30-40% total CPU, while Civilization VI I'd expect closer to 80-90% (numbers will be a bit off).

100% CPU fan usually means the cooling isn't quite adequate. It might just be the thermal paste application isn't great, so that would be what I consider first before getting a new cooler. Case airflow might be another area to look at, if all your filters are clogged that can be causing higher than idea temps.

PC case is Cooler Master Masterbox MB511 RGB and i have 6 fans on it :

- 3 front intake

- 2 top exhaust

- 1 rear exhaust

This is the first time i ever saw a spike.

Will i damage my CPU If i continue to use my current cooler ?

Also CPU is 1 month old.

If it only went to 81, you're fine. If it goes above 90C, that's when you have a problem. You might be losing out on some performance with higher temperatures, but it's not that big a deal. The stock cooler keeps it at roughly these temperatures, so the CPU is definitely fine running at them for its rated lifespan.

That should be a pretty good cooling setup, that case isn't that choked for airflow.

But does that mean the CPU cooler is struggling even with said case and cooling ?

I'd only bother looking into getting a new cooler if it becomes a problem for you. If you want the extra performance and extra peace of mind that your components are better cooled, the Hyper 212 is a great cooler for a cheap price. If you want the best you can get, go with what @Dedayog suggested and get an AIO or one of Noctua's bigger coolers. However, the biggest cooler you will probably need to go is a Noctua NH-U12S, but even that will be overkill for your CPU.

Well regarding performance, the CPU wasn't underperforming i'd say... i mean i was getting really good 100FPS with no drops and on max settings.

I'm just concerned, will i damage my CPU If i continue using my current Shadow Rock LP ?

Will Noctua NH-D15 or BE QUIET! Dark Rock Pro 4 even fit inside my case ?

They seem really big what i saw when i googled them.

It might be tight, but looking at the official dimensions they will fit (just barely). However, you don't need that big of a cooler for a 3600.
