ASUS GeForce Gtx 1070 cooling issue

Hello Guys and Gals,

I have a older graphics card ASUS GeForce Gtx 1070 several years old but it is getting really hot over last month or so even in games with low graphics.

The max temps are 80-95 deg C and it is worrying me for being so hot.

I have cleaned the fan, heatsink and changed the thermal paste 3 times today and 3 different brands. The last change was to Kryonaut thermal paste.

My case is cool and has plenty of airflow and my cpu Ryzen 5 3600 temp is low at 70 deg C under various games.

3 x 140mm case fans and 2 x 120mm fans connected to rad.

CPUID HWMonitor  shows me the gpu section and it has 2 lines for temp.

GPU is one and the 2nd is hot spot.

While typing this post the gpu says 28C and the hotspot say 38C.

I know thermal paste has full coverage/even spread.

My gpu has one weird fan like a (Hampster) wheel and a large shroud.

Any ideas one what I should do to cool this card or is this normal?

Thanks in advance

Vashta

Hello,

Thanks for fast reply.

The card came in my old prebuilt computer and I transferred it to this newer system.

The only marking on the card says ASUS with no other identifying printing on it.

Only info ASUS would give me is that it is Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 which I already new from dxdiag and HWMonitor.

Also in Device Manager when I go to display it shows same and all info in properties/details shows the same.

Even with shroud off no other info shows on the card.

As for taking off the side panels on case the GPU temps go up/increase a few degrees. (Not Counting CPU which remain constant).

It runs cooler (same as first post temps) with side panels on.

Today before I applied thermal paste I had upgraded my case fans to the 140mm from 120mm hoping it might fix the issue but temps remain aprox what I posted.

When this issue started I thought it just needed cleaning but it did not help as I keep my pc pretty clean.

Thanks

Vashta

Hey Guys & Gals,

Problem is now fixed.

I went to ASUS site and downloaded a utility "GPU Tweak III"  that is in beta.

https://www.asus.com/campaign/GPU-Tweak-III/

I have been able to alter the fan speed and what temps fan should increase.

Now I have no more burning up and GPU stays less than 80c (Fan sounds like a jet but worth the noise for cooler gpu).

Thanks

Vashta
