I would take all the ram out and then try each stick in each slot to see if you have 1 or more bad sticks or slots. If its a compatibility issue then you will have to add them back in one at a time to find the odd one out.

but all of them are detected by the motherboard in SPD info

incompatibilities may only show up in the OS. Could also verify that you are using a 64bit OS

Would be a lot less than 8GB if that was the case.

What does the memory tab say? And what is task manager reporting? I'm wondering about system reserved memory now.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Check the motherboard manual to make sure the memory configuration is a supported one if all the sticks are not the same capacity.

With only 2 slots being allegedly used by windows' measure, I think you should try booting with each stick individually. It might reveal something.

sorry I had it backwards, I thought your bios was the one saying you had more. I have no idea and would probably just try resetting the Bios. Others may have better options.

let me try, but i just bought the hyper x, my old ram is adata and kingston, when i added the hynix, it dosnt work, so i thought it was a memory incompatibility, so o bought  2 hyper-x
tried both hyper-x only, then all of them

huh that's weird, I thought upgrading CPU to 3rd gen will make my max ram clock to 1600mhz
anyways it says 4xDIMM, maximum of 32 Gb, is my motherboard ok?

Prob dirty socket pins

Though for me instead of half the ram being undetected it just errors and gives e1 code on the pci debug card which is ram related

To clean a dirty socket a good method is just dunking the socket with 99% isopropyl alcohol, covering it with something, then leave it for 24h

This has saved my boards a few times

You could also try half of the slots. Two with a matching pair, then the other two. If one pair of slots does not allow the system to boot, that might be the problem

Have you booted one stick in each slot to make sure each channel and slot works with each stick?

yes, thats my setup before, 2 pairs of the assorted, 2 pairs of hyper-x, 1 of each htper-x and assorted, tried the other slots too, it's like it has a ram cap or something...

I've never heard of 2nd gen CPUs being limited intentionally to 2 dimms, although now that I think about it, it's possible the memory controller itself is damaged.

How likely is it that you could test with a friend's ddr3? If someone has 2x8GB you could borrow, or even 1x8GB, you might get some answers.

i should bought 8gb ram if i know that this wont work, I also upgraded from Athlon x4 760k to this one just for the 4 slot ram, and yet i still have 8gb installed

Let's forget Windows for a moment, make and boot a USB stick with some kind of Linux. Ubuntu is pretty easy, download the ISO and I use Balena Etcher to make a bootable USB. Boot that up, does it still only show 8GB of memory? You said BIOS sees all 16GB and at some level its there because CPU-Z can read all 4 populated slots. Why is the only outlier here Windows saying 8GB and 2 slots?

Nevermind, misread. Hey could it be a problem mixing single and dual rank and mixing them in the same channel?

it cant be, because i haved tried putting the dual in slot 1&3 and 1&2

and my friend uses the same ram (also 2pcs) and also has 2 assorted ram on intel i7 4th gen
