Monitor advice about hdmi 2.1

NineOneSix

Hi guys, long time watcher, first time poster.

I'm currently on the lookout for a 27" monitor that supports hdmi 2.1 to use on my Xbox series X and for when I eventually get a decent pc for video editing and gaming etc.

I'm having real trouble finding monitors that state the spec of the hdmi compatibility. Any advice will be really grateful.

Cheers, Brad

What resolution are you looking for? The only benefit I can immediately see for HDMI 2.1 in your situation would be if it was 4K 120Hz. And then, you can already do that with DisplayPort.

I see HDMI 2.1 as a big benefit for large format high refresh TV's over more dedicated gaming monitors.

It's to get 1440p or 4k, preferably 1440p at 120hz. Problem is the Xbox doesn't have a display port, just hdmi 2.1.

I'd get a TV, but my Xbox travels with me for work, so a monitor makes more sense than a TV

1440p @ 120 Hz can be done via HDMI 2.0, you don't need HDMI 2.1 for that.

I'm sure I've Xbox not support 120hz on 1440p over 2.0, just want to make sure I don't make an expensive mistake 😅

Just read that even though 1440p@120hz over hdmi 2.0 is available, the Xbox itself doesn't support it 🙄

Dunno how true this is as I take everything I read on the internet with a pinch of salt
