Triple 144+Hz Monitor setup - is it possible?

Twinsenito

Hello everyone!

At the moment I am in the middle of process of choosing the new monitors. I want to buy three of them for nvidia surround and additional productivity. That is not the first time I am going for multimonitor setup. But here is the question: if I'll choose 144 Hz (or more) monitors, are all of them going to work with this refresh rate? Also, will I be able to enable Nvidia Surround with 144 Hz? I was pretty sure that it's possible but one of the shops told me that it might not be possible. So now I am really interested!

It is possible? Yes? Should you? No.

If you really want surround gaming get a big ultrawide like a smasung g9 or something it's better than using 3 screens on their own.

What games are you even going to be playing in surround? As a lot of games do NOT support such wide display ratio's or when they do stretch like crazy.

If this is for emersion sake just get a vr headset you can't go better than that and yes it also works in non vr supported games as you can just display the display in the vr headset in any size you wish.

does it possible? yes, can your system do it? idk..

its better to have ultrawide display like 21:9 or 32:9, so you dont see the bezel

as for productivity get a reasonable main display and possibly a tv or ultrawide with normal 16:9 panel flanking it so you can have more screen real estate

does it possible? yes, can your device do it? idk..

Well, the case here is I am going to use three screens for work as well, and in this case it's more productive this way than with 21:9 or 32:9, since I am able to locate 6 windows (2 per screen) at the same time which is something I really need for work and I can use it with windows basic functions like windows + arrow keys. So surround gaming is just one of the cases for this setup. But if I won't be able to set all three monitors to work at 144 hz, there is absolutely no reason for me to buy more expensive monitors and then I am going to look for some 60 to 75 hz versions instead. I've got RTX 3070 with triple displayports on it so theoretically it should work, but I just don't know if I'll be able to use all three monitors up to their potencial. As for games, there is plenty of games out there that work very nice with surround setups. Racing games are the ones that provide the most immersion this way.

You can use all monitors at 144Hz at the same time using surround.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

  • 3 weeks later...

Finally got these monitors! Now I can also confirm that everything can be used on every screen at the same time: 1080p 144 with gsync enabled on every screen or while using them in surround! Here are some photos of my new multiscreen setup 🙂
