My Sony Bluray player hangs when I try to play Atmos content

Go to solution Solved by Eric Richard,

I have 9 year old Sony 3D Bluray player. When I try to play downloaded ATMOS contents, it displays "Audio Format not Supported" and hangs. It can play ATMOS audio directly from a Bluray disc and from the files copied untouched from the disc, without any " not supported" message. Even when it displays "not supported" message for DD+ ATMOS, it manages to send the ATMOS signal to my Soundbar.
Is there any workaround for my Bluray player to play ATMOS from downloaded or converted files without getting struck?

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.
