PC for the next 6 years

TheSim

Budget (including currency): 1600 € (1900 $)

Country: PT

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, Python with GPU, some video editing in 4K

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

My current computer has 10 year so it's time to change!
I want something that 5 years from now will still run new games without trouble (maybe with less quality but ok) and that can edit video without crashing and eventually use the GPU power to run some python.

I'm thinking on this:

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vmNZbh

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB Founders Edition Video Card
Case: Corsair 275R Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Do i have anything unbalanced? My biggest doubt is the motherboard and the SSD
Yes...The GPU will be bought...well... after everything else. The 3090 I think it will be a bit of an overkill.

Can you please give some feedback? I will really appreciate.
Thanks

That isn't a bad motherboard, but it's relevance was mainly before B550 boards were out when people wanted a budget X570 board that gave them access to the then-exclusive features of the "high-end" chipset like PCI-e 4.0 without spending a lot. Now that B550 exists, I would tend to recommend a good B550 board if you want to save money, or to spend more to get an X570 with additional bells and whistles the TUF lacks if you really think you need something higher-end.

If you want to use this for the next 5-6 years and you are going to be doing editing, I would definitely consider an NVMe drive, maybe even a gen4 one.

Case comes down largely to personal preference and there's nothing wrong with the 275R but again, for a PC I intend to keep for the next half-decade or more, I guess I would blow the cash on something a bit more... luxurious?

If you replace the X570 TUF with a board that has a USB-C header, you would want a case with a front USB-C port. Right now devices apart from phones that use USB-C are still somewhat rare but chances are they will become more and more commonplace. Again, thinking long-term here.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Not bad, but do you have a monitor that needs as much power as the 3080Ti?
If not, it makes way more sense to lower your budget, and build a PC now and another one in 3 years. You'll get far more out of 2 midrange PCs than a single high end one performance wise.

Thank you for the comments.
I did not thought about the monitor. I want to get a new one but it wasn't by far a priority. That is something to see (after the GPU).

I've read a little bit and taking into account your feedback and made 2 changes:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB Founders Edition Video Card
Case: Corsair 275R Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

In terms of case.... i will search a little bit more but to be honest the only thing i want is something that ventilates well and easy to clean. I don't care for RGB and.... i'm a slob in terms of cleaning the PC.
