Which gpu I should pick for 4k gaming?

SLI gtx 780 6gb or SLI 780 ti 3gb?

I know 3gb would be enough for bf4 etc but would it be enough for running modded skyrim in 4k?

Of course I would play with like no or max 4x AA

I really don't think we have the GPU power today for 4K gaming. You need a crazy amount of VRAM to run it.

It feels as though no games ever leave the BETA stage anymore, until about 3 years after it officially releases. - Shd0w2 2014

EVGA is doing a 6gb 780Ti too anyways.

Everyone says this, but there is no proof anywhere. Why would they release a card that will make the Titan Black completely pointless to gamers? I still don't think they're going to release one.

According to this sli 780ti would be pretty capable

Crossfire 290x anyone?

#AMDMASTERRACE

No but really, get 290X crossfire or the 295x2. That should do well. AMD has a "bigger" memory bus which is very important for this.

780Tis are not capable of 4K in a practical sense. Right now, they will handle most games, but in the near future they won't. I'm not sure if you've ever run into VRAM limits before, but it's crippling. It will take you from 60FPS to 12.

Two 780Tis can't run modded Skyrim at 4K at all, they will drop in certain locations in Far Cry 3 and in AC4.

I'd go dual 290's with the g10 or in a custom loop.

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

I get you, but technically speaking the Titan with it's compute power is still gonna be on top of the 780Ti regardless of the vram... I know that's doesn't help in gaming but it's worth to clarify that.

UPDATE! EVGA rep has confirmed a 6GB GTX 780 Ti in the works.

Not solid proof, but I guess he is an Industry Affiliate. If they do make one, then it's going to be a step forward to 4K. Hoping that the 800 series has more than a pathetic 1GB memory increase like the 700 series did.

No, but I take his word is more valid than a common rumor, but hey I do understand your point and it's a valid one.

I'm hoping they lather on the VRAM in the coming generations. 6GB should be the minimum.

I'm being serious. It costs like $25-$35 to put a few GBs of VRAM on a board. The only limitation then is getting the bandwidth to actually use that much between the GPUs (i.e. memory bus, which AMD has enough of).

295x2 will be lovely with it's 12GB (6 actual GB) of VRAM. *drools*

Maybe they'll sit on it and just wait for Maxwell to get closer. We still need a big jump in performance to do 4K well. Even dual 780Tis can't run 3 screens all that well.

Yeah, 4K is pretty much worthless as to this day in my opinion, at least for me, I know there are users out there that uses it.

I'd agree that 5-6GB should be the standard for the high end cards. 3-4GB for lower end cards.

AMD had 3GB last generation, and Nvidia is only just putting 3GB on its highest end cards.
