That mean the usb c can also allows displayport out put and yes it doesn't always have to be a tb3 port

There's something called alternate mode in usb type c connector you could go and see it your self how it works and you need cable like these

Hi guys. Cable newb here. I recently bought a G15 GA503 (the latest one) and I'm looking to get a display for it. The problem I'm facing is one of which cable to get.

The ROG page says that the USB C port can handle DP 1.4 (see below), but the only USB C to DP 1.4 cables I can find are for thunderbolt, not USB 3.2 gen 2.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a USB C to DP 1.4 cable compatible with the laptop? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm kinda new to all of this, since my last laptop was an MSI Raider with an 8th gen Intel chip and a 1070 XD

So if I'm understanding correctly, the dp alt mode spec means I can grab any of the usb c to dp 1.4 cables that say tb3 and use it on the G15?

I thought I had this alt mode thing figured out when I was looking for usb docks, but apparently not XD

Well yes, but it doesn't always have to be a thunderbolt certificate

Basically if one (in this case your new laptop) detected the present of the cable (because the cable also contains some sort of chip) they will "convert" the usb type c connector to displayport electrically

I'm looking at getting a 1080p 360hz monitor for my ROG Strix g15 with the same usb-c port as this Zephyrus laptop. Will this cable let me run it at the full 360hz?

I believe you can do 360hz on dp 1.4 but, you might want to search for other usb c to displayport cable
