GTX 1070 fan mod

Hi guys i have a gigabyte gtx 1070 gaming g1. I'm thinking about making a fan mod removng the original 3 fans and replacing with 2 120mm fans attached to motherboard fan connectors. My concern is that the fans spinning are not detected by the vga. Could this cause problems?

Well yeah obviously the fans won't be detected.

You need something like this to control the fans from the graphic card.

just for fun, for keeping temperatures low for overclocking and becuase of noise of the original fans. What it is worring me is not controlling the fan speed. My only concern is the proper function of the graphic card. I mean does some sort of alarm, or protection activates when the temperature revelead is high and no fans are detected?

Thank you. But do i have to check voltage of the original fans to be the same of the new ones?

Nope all fans are normally 12v but can operate below that as that is how a 3pin fan header controls the speed. Do make sure such a connector works tho as not all cards are the same.

 

As for if this connector doesn't work just put a couple good fans (arctic p series are especially good for this purpose) at a higher speed and test it in a benchmark for 10 minutes. Look at the temps and adjust accordingly. If temps go over 83c fans need to be higher speed below is good.

Yes. This is where you need to control the fans yourself and put them at a set speed that will always cool the gpu.

Hi guys, mod done. i'm running 10 °C less than stock cooler. Thank you jaslion, i bought the 2x1 connector and i can run 2 120mm fans on a single gpu cfan connector
