Budget CPU Cooler advice

Go to solution Solved by Chris Pratt,

Artic Freezer. Easily best of the choices.

Hi guys, I have i3-10100F in Fractal Design Define C mini with a stock cooler. I know, not the highetst TDP CPU around, but I just want a better cooler.

I care for these things: price, performance and noise and maybe installation and warranty. RGB and design are meaningless. It needs to be compatibile fith AM4 and 1200 sockets, because I want to be able to upgrade the CPU in the future (but only to some Ryzen 5 or i5, not more).

I found these 3:

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO V2 - popular choice, but I found that it is a louder model, which is not great for me

arctic freezer 34 esports duo - found some really good reviews, but I got mixed feelings abnbout the brand... but a 10 year warranty

be quiet! Pure rock 2

The budget is around 50 euro, but of course, the lower the better. Also, I am not limited only to these 3, but haven't found any other yet.

What would you guys reccomend?

I'd take that one.

tensds to be marginally better than the other 2. Though direct comparison with benchmarks might not be found...

yeah, havent found one either... but is it also better in voice levels? as that is very important for me too

thank you ❤️ but those aren't my only only choices, if you know of any better one, let me know ❤️

If you're trying to stay at that price, the Artic Freezer is pretty much the best you're going to get. More money buys you better, but it's more money.

true, but I am willing to go for a slightly more expensive one, if it translates into much better sound levels/performance. but thank you so much ❤️

Before reading your post I was all set to tell you to keep the stock cooler.  What temps are you getting that you need more cooling and why do you want to change?  Aesthetics? Noise? All the coolers described wwould be massive overkill anywhere but in tropical heat.  Pure rock is the least powerful but it’s the quietest (marginally)  because it’s got only a pull fan as it’s default set up. Still more power than you need though. Esports 34 and hyper212 are pretty close to equal power though is suspect the esports will have a longer lasting fan.  Fan quality isn’t a strong suit of the hyper212 traditionally.  If you’re going for aesthetics there are a few zalman flower coolers that might amuse you.  I normally despise them because they have serious power deficiencies, but you don’t really need power.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

aesthetics are not important at all, as I have a closed case. I got upto 80 degrees today, which isnt a lot, but summer only just started (live in central Europe) and as I said, I am kinda a low-temp lover 😄 is the Pure rock 2 that much quiter than the Esports Duo?

Not a lot.  Only a little. The difference between all of them is inches.  The one that can be gotten for the best price is probably the best one in this case.

Big thx to all of you guys, I bought esports duo and i am very happy with it! Cheers!

Cool may it serve you well.  Just for the record salmon was supposed to be ‘zalman’ autocorrect changed it on me twice apparently.  Pointless but it pissed me off enough I just changed it a third time.
