worst case cmos reset? Can you elaborate on that. Im sorry im a begginer in OC

If it fails you need to remove the oc and sometimes this can result in the pc not booting due to it. Then you need to clear the cmos where all these settings are stored. Often there is a switch but the most fail safe way is to just remove the battery on the board and place it back.

So lets say i have 3200 ram and the cpu's limit is 3200 ram. I turn on xmp to 3600 will it work at 3600 or 3200.

16 gb 4000

assuming your board allows memory OC, it'll try to run at 3600

if your CPU cannot handle it, then it'll refuse to post, or be unstable while using it

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I assume this is about your 11400? Those are hard capped at 3200mhz standard but since xmp is a oc they can run at 3600mhz.

IF it boots with it yes. Worst case cmos reset. It is a memory oc so 0 guarantees.

Just get 3200 RAM.  The 11400 doesn't need 3600, and you won't have to worry about all the above.
