Don't overspend on it, some good 500w is enough

And short the pin 16 to any ground pin to turn the psu on

EXP GDC already provides an adapter that shorts the cpu power and 24 pin

also it doesnt seem like this thing is cheap anymiore but tbh way cheaper than an thunderbolt egpu you can find:
https://www.banggood.com/M_2-X4-Version-V8_0-EXP-GDC-Beast-Laptop-External-Independent-Video-Card-Dock-With-Power-p-1109912.html?cur_warehouse=CN
again keep in mind the risks i have told before. as always, I dont want anyone knowing that they wont work on their laptop, or even worse void the warranty or break anything.

That one seems kinda bit confusing, since the nvme come with newer board with 2 data line

yes the op has an m.2 slot, upon indication it is an nvme so it can work, and again EXP GDC has an adpater cable you can plug it in and it will short the connectors needed and that's one of the good things about it.

umu, it's mostly used on gpus with pcie power connector. if you have a low power one like a GTX 1650, The specific model EXP GDC allows DC Power as well.

Yeah my bad, i guess I'm using confusing analogy here, by external power supply o mean standard standard atx power supply outside the case and it's "normal use case"  so I type it external psu

Lastly tho if you have the budget you can go with adt link egpu dock like @Necrocomputing said since it was kinda all in one setup and have higher chance of working, i myself used exp gdc but never on my main laptop so I don't know how stable it is to daily drive it
