(Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I'm not sure what would be.)

Hello, I have a small 1024x800 (i think that's the res) display that I originally got for my raspberry pi. I never use it, so I wanted to install it into my PC case to display thermals and whatnot. Before I installed it, I tested it to make sure it didn't mess anything up, however, I found out it would significantly knock my FPS in games. For example, my average FPS in Rainbow Six: Siege went from about 190 to 160 at 1440p. I currently have two monitors in my setup, a 1440p 144hz and a 1080p 144hz. My PC specs are i9-9900k, 32Gb 2666 RAM, 2080 Ti, a 1TB M.2 SSD, and a 1TB HDD. Would Wallpaper engine affect this at all? Or any other software?

Why does this small screen drop my FPS so bad? And how could I solve this? I would really like to use it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not something i can confirm. I've always used a high refresh main monitor and a lower refresh secondary. Never had any performance impact from this.

The problem is most likely Wallpaper Engine. It will use some GPU power to make animated wallpapers work.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

do you think it would really take up that much power for a third screen? Even with my 2080ti?

Yes. Depending on my settings and wallpaper it can use 60% or more of my 3080. Altough i'm on 4K. But i can easily imagine a scenario where wallpaper engine can be exremely demanding (for a background task).

Just disable the animated background for the little screen and test for performance drops. If you don't have drops anymore, then you know the wallpaper was the issue.

do you know how to just disable it for one screen?

You have to get into the display selection on the top right of your wallpapers, then select the screen you want to change, then select your small display, then go to the wallpaper that is currently used and disable it.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
