Hello,

sorry i used the general topic. I actually don’t know what the problem is...

so, my computer is making this booting sound(similar to hdd when loading files/apps).

the thing is, i don’t have any hdds installed. I don’t have pc speakers installed and also, my motherboard doesn’t have any built in speakers on it, well, none that i know of anyway.

happens when i access files most of the time. Regardless where the file is located (local files or network attached storages even usb flash drives). No sound when booting computer up. Very rare when i open applications. Happens most of the time when opening files.

My motherboard’s an aorus x570 pro wifi rev 1.1/1.2

1 sata ssd evo 870

2 m.2 pcie 4 aorus

I’ve ruled out the fans and water in the loop.

 any suggestions?

THANKS!!!! 😁

A sound recording would help!

i tried doing that, but it's barely audible using my phone's mic. but it the sould is very similar to an HDD booting. you know, especially the really old ones? but not as loud though. it's just annoying especially when the fan speeds are at like 15% or when fans are stopped.

Yeah I'm hearing something after your clicks, not sure what it is though.

Didnt "watch" yet, but could it be coilwhine ? i know that seems unlikely, but i think psu or mobo could make "harddrive like" sounds maybe?

PS: I also hear something, but too many "clicks" to make it out…

Double click once would be better to indentify the sound, also case fans off just during the recording maybe?

It's during I/O so it might be something like that when voltages get higher? Idk. Haven't heard of this happening before.

😂😂😂😂😂 right after the click it’s like a fraction of a second 😅 but ye, it’s hard to stop the video right away so i have to keep holding the phone!!! A few seconds more i miss the 20mb file limit

yeap could be.

edit: also this sounds nothing like an "old harddrive"

 😄

@ 8:55 best "boot sound" ever xD

😂😂😂😂 well to be fair, I’m basing on my rust memory, and that’s what it reminded me of 😂 but ye it’s way ofd basing on that video!

I actually considerred coil whine. But the only fan in the system doing that is the aorus fan. I turned that on off and it’s still there. I can’t stop the fans at the bottom, it’s minimum I’d like400 rpm i think. Anyway the sound is coming from where the 2nd m.2 slot is (where the other nvme drive is located). The sound is not coming from the m.2 drive. It’s somewhere in that location. Mid portion of the x570 pro wifi board

Could be fans too. If you have too aggressive fan curve, the CPU temps will spike when you load/open something and fans spin out accordingly. Anyway, its probably not something you need to worry about. And its so slight noise that any other sound will make it something you won't even hear.

WOW I thought when you or the other guy mentioned coil whine, i thought you were referring to the coils that are inside a fan!!!!! *mind*blown*

i really do think it is a coil whine now. What's weird is, i have a WB edition! rtx 3090 xtreme waterforce WB!  what's with the coil whine, can someone post some reference or other info about this?

Coil whine could also be from PSU, or pretty much any other part.
