I am upgrading to a Meshify C as my A500 from corsair does not fit in my current case. I found 140mm fans from kinguin on amazon for $7 usd. I plan to use a fan controller to keep the speeds down, and the noise, would these be a reasonable investment or should I pay extra for nicer fans? I am also going to be using the 2 included 120mm fractal design fans in the top, with these 140mm in the front.

If I were you I would consider Arctic P12's as investment of quality. This way you know you're beating out most of the other fans and so won't regret and be in a situation of "buy cheap buy twice".

Is sound a problem, because cheap fans mean choppy airflow and that means lots of noise. And a very unpleasant noise.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

I have a reference blower card lol so sound isn't the biggest deal for me. More worried about cooling and longevity!

I agree with @For Science!, Arctic P12 are amazing fans, they're cheap and can easily keep up with Noctua's (few % worse usually). I just bought a few of them in a pack, and the PST ones can be daisy-chained on 1 header without getting a splitter.

Assuming you're not paying for things like RGB, the majority of the cost difference in fans is covered by quality, including lower noise/better performance at lower noise levels.

The fans you found may be fine to run at 100%, for example, but may not have any near enough cooling potential running them at like 50%. You're also more likely to hear them at the same fan speeds of higher quality fans. Then, of course, they could potentially die sooner than higher quality fans, leading to the age old question of whether it's better to spend more money once, or less money more often.

Long and short, they may be just fine, but (again, discounting things like RGB), there's generally not huge markup in fans. You pay for what you get, and there will be a difference in longevity, noise, performance, or all three.

Thank you for the recommendation, would the p14's be better for airflow for just 3 bucks more?

Cheap fans means you lose out on everything. Noise, actually good airflow direction, longevity, and more. When it comes to cheap fans it is amazing how much of a difference $5 makes.

I think the P14s are also fine, I am just less familiar in the 140 mm scene.

I doubt 1000RPM fans would be loud at full speed even if they are cheap and flimsy. Airflow wont be anything impressive though.
