No, stop this bullshit. Giving them money means they will take that money and disappear and come back somewhere else with even more scams, it does nothing to stop the issue of scams and only serves to make them worse.

Except the funds are held by eBay until x days after delivery, which means if it is a scam they would never see the money

But they don't it's a direct deposit into your account unless they determine you to be a risk. That's why scammers steal established accounts to do this, so they can get the money before people realized they are bamboozled. If they held it too long still then these scams wouldn't exist or be anywhere near as prevalent as they are.
