EVA foam thickness for sound dampening

Morsher

Hi guys. Is it okay to use 5mm EVA foam between PCB and a plate in a hotswap build? I saw one guy used it for NK65 EE in his video and it looked and sounded good.

It will vary based on what keyboard you use, for mine 2mm was plenty

You mean case clearance? I saw an article that said there's 3.5 mm between PCB and a plate. Problem is you can't buy 4mm foam or 3.5 mm foam. 2, 3 or 5mm only.

in that case I would consider two sheets of 2mm, if its a plastic frame 5mm might work

Hmm... Haven't seen that anywhere. I don't really care if it's ugly i just don't know if it can stuck upon each other normally.

It is close enough (you want some compression anyway) and easy to buy.

Hmm... Compression you say. If it does require compression then i should take 5mm i suppose? Or it'll be too tight?
