There is no 1440p screen with a good value except the Korean panels, just get a 4K screen for a bit more.

Refurbished zr2740w from HP, they can be bought at around 330-360$ from legitimate factory refurbishers.  You can also pick up refurbished pb278q for 430$

The dell one is ridiculously expensive, they used to have terrible quality control from what I've heard from overclocked.net owners club.

Not correct. A week ago there was a promo on Newegg for an Acer Monitor IPS 1440p 27 inch that lowered the price to 350$ instead of 400$. Unfortunately it's back up to 400$.

You would think that, but because 1080p and 4k are both widely used standards the panels are going to be mass produced and therefore cheaper.

1440p is less common, so I reckon it will always be fairly expensive and when 4k becomes popular it will just disappear.

And what's the point of buying a 1440p screen anyway? They are all 27" or higher, so if you don't need a big monitor, it doesn't make any sense, because you can have a nice 23" IPS 1080p monitor for less than half the price. Such monitor has a PPI of 95, while the 1440p screen has 108PPI, a 13PPI diffirence is barely recognizable if not at all.

The ebay Korean monitor are the worst value possible. Doens't mean low price, that automatically its good value.

The Dell U2713HM or the ASUS PB278Q are both well reviewed IPS monitors, and are extremely similar.

The ASUS one has lower back light bleeding, but uses PWM for the back light and its warranty service is not as good as Dell (Dell allows you to keep the monitor while you wait for the replacement, and in the box of the replacement you'll have a pre-paid shipping label, to allow you to return the faulty monitor free of charge. ASUS you need to pay shipping yourself to send it). So that is the difference between the 2.

I recommend either choices for 27inch range monitor.

If you need improved color accuracy, the Dell U2713H is a great choice, as it features a better panel, color processor, and have better backlight which outputs more truer white (uses GB-LED). However, the price is getting close to the Dell UP2414Q, which, like the U2713H, is wide gamut, GB-LED back light, color processor, support 10-bit colors (1.07 billion color, if you have the hardware and software that supports it), and is 4K at 60Hz.

I've got the Asus PB278Q and it's pretty gorgeous.  I was thinking about getting the Qnix or one of the various Korean monitors, but aesthetically speaking I liked the way the Asus looked better and the height, tilt, pivot stand.  All of that was worth the extra $200 for me so that's what I got lol.  I would buy it again if I had to.
