There are more than 40 models spanning 20 years of desktop Presario. You need to provide the model if you have any hope of receiving an answer.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

The Opteron 190 was the fastest CPU made for this socket, but it is extremely difficult to find one nowadays (as for most CPUs of this socket). You'd have better luck finding an Opteron 185, an Athlon 64 FX-60, or just an Athlon 64 X2 for that system.

As for memory, DRR SDRAM (first generation DDR memory) only supports speeds up to 400 MT/s / 400Mhz. Your system already has 1GB of that pre-installed.

You've pretty much got it as good as it gets with that system unless you get super lucky, find one of those rare CPU's, and your motherboard supports it.

it actually came with 512 MB ddr ram lol it was my second desktop I ever had and does not use sata by default it had ribbon cables for everything and I have not made any upgrades except ram but 2 of the 256 MB sticks that came from my other pc were bad so it now has 512
