sRGB color temp?

Go to solution Solved by Geekazoid,

Ok. So I have a ve245 Asus panel that lets me select the color temperature.

It defaults to 'User Defined' which is 100% RGB values. But I also have the option of selecting a predefined sRGB color temperature. The only issue with sRGB is that it seems very dim, even though the back light is on max.

Is this normal?

Yes mate, it is quite normal. What that sRGB setting does is not only brings the colours down to look more natural but also brings the brightness down to the recommended value that should be comfortable for most eyes thus reducing eyestrain caused by overly bright light.

Ok, good to hear. In the standard setting without sRGB it was actually quite difficult to look at the screen during the night time.

Also, with sRGB is there a higher degree of color accuracy?

Well you are dealing with a TN panel so colour accuracy isn't their strongest point. But yes there is suppose to be some degree of better color accuracy, however I would highly recommend that you use some utility like QuickGamma to fine tune the colour so that it's at least a little bit more accurate. This is the utility I use and have gotten decent results with.
