What type of data?

Since a lot of media degrades, its probably only going to get harder to recover physical media as it ages.

Is the physical media intact?

Probably a bit better, but current software is already pretty good. It also depends on the data is lost(is the filesystem good?, what filesystem?, how was the data lost?
