NOT ABLE TO OVERCLOCK A GPU WITH MSI AFTERBURNER

I have a Nvidia Geforce MX230 in my ASUS X509FJ

My GPU underperforms most of the time..not because of thermals...So i decided to overclock it

But then none of the apps like Afterburner and Asus GPU tweak seems to work...After making changes and when trying to save the values.....It go back to the default values...

I have seen many people overclock or undervolt the MX250,MX130,MX150...but i do not find anyone doing such things to a MX230...

HELP!

What settings are you changing? Do you hit apply before saving?

It's also and older mobile card. Those typically don't age well, so with "underperforming" do you mean it's performing less than bechmarks show or just not as much as you'd like?

The MX230 is a laptop GPU. Your laptop has more than likely locked the ability to change frequencies.

@tikkerI increased the clock speed and the memory freq. slightly to increase the valuse slowly...and yes I hit the apply button...

@DobertRownySreven the MX130,150,250 are laptop GPUs...but aren't they overclockable?

Some laptop manufacturers might allow overclocking, it seems yours doesn't allow it.
It depends on the bios, not the GPU.

No...I am simply not able to change the settings of my GPU in any way(not even undervolting....but am able to tweak the CPU in every possible way(other than overclocking) and make it surpass benchmarks of the r5 3400g (not lying)

even if the manufacturer does not allow the tweaking of the GPU...then why is the tweaking of  CPU alone allowed

I am not hitting the power limits in any way...

thx btw

Only the laptop manufacturer will be able to give you a sure answer for this, but overclocking capabilities come down to bios.
