Need Help on what to should i upgrade next to maximize my 3070 gpu..

jteyo24

good day all!

im just a noobie and i want some suggestion on which should i upgrade next..

i got a gtx 3070

ryzen 7 1700

16gb 3200mhz ram

1080p 144hz monitor.

but it really feels like my gpu is bottle necking. i tried a lot of settings for my gpu, slightly OC my gpu but i can't run even dota in 144hz max in high to max settings..

i tried to upscale my game resolution, my fps in 1080 vs upscaled like near or above 1440p reso in games just varies or even 1440p reso gets higher fps..

got friends telling me to upgrade my cpu, some tells the monitor.

thanks!

you can delete this post if it violate any rules thanks admin..

CPU to 11400/B560. 1080p is fine for the 11400 + 3070

He likely should go AMD given the situation currently and the fact that he's already running AMD. Less likely to need to reinstall the OS and he may not even need to swap motherboards.

jteyo24: What motherboard you using? If it's a 4xx series or above then you should get a 5600x.

Edit: The monitor upgrade would work if you wanna snag a cheap 2K144Hz model but you'll likely enjoy a faster CPU more since it impacts your whole system and some games really like more CPU power regardless of resolution. Monitor should be your next upgrade after CPU most likely.

Wouldn't the installation be on the storage drive? The key would be bound to motherboard HWID and if it is changed it simply de-activates Windows, doesn't delete your files.

Not about the install, it's about Windows responding to an entirely new motherboard, CPU, and chipset which is why most people reinstall their OS to avoid issues...but as I said the more important thing is that he's already got a working motherboard which would be great if he could use that lol.

Sorry typo, should have been 4xx lol...I edited it. Also, 5600x would be ideal but a 3600x would work if he has an older board.

Yoooooooooo! What state you live in (if in the USA)...there are retailers with 5600x's in stock so you don't have to camp NowInStock to find a CPU.

Edit: Also, it's this board right? If so it's already been verified for 5000 series, just update the BIOS like Claire said.

Great, it should be a drop in replacement. Update your motherboard BIOS and get yourself something like 5600x.

You bet! Best of luck finding a CPU, some countries have better luck than in the USA finding them as a certain quantity gets sent to other countries and there's lower demand in some of them. I saw a bunch that were limited to local purchases when I was looking for my 5950x and it bummed me out. Fingers crossed!

Ah okay! There are usually things to be found there if you know where to look and don't mind travelling (although many allow online ordering) and camping out an online retailer with worldwide shipping may end up being cheaper. Also, if you're okay with getting a 5800x they're almost always in stock and companies like Amazon have it here for MSRP (From this search only including internationally shipped items) and say they'll ship international! If that doesn't work then there are stores localized near you (Like this for ₱21,300.00 or about $445 but that's what you'd pay for the 5800x through Amazon) but they seem to cost more for sure (Although sites like this have it cheaper at ₱18,500.00 or $386 but the site looks kind of shady and it's still expensive lol). I'd just get the 5800x from Amazon if you can and try to reuse your cooler from whatever you have now. Let me know if you need more info and best of luck again!
