need help deciding CPU

1 minute ago, ShrimpBrime said:

No. @davemchad it right on the money with the very first reply to this thread. The 11400K is faster than a 3600X period. There's no secret silver lining, it's all in the numbers. Do some research.

So, I repeat myself. If you cannot get a 5600X go with the Intel.

woudnt that just be going to what i asked in the first place it would cost more to go with intel

the 11400 wouldnt require an extra cooler. what is the price gap between the am4 mobo u wanted and the cheapest intel h510, b560, h570, or z590 mobo in ur area?

You make no sense.

Don't recommend someone spend a lot of money on something that you haven't researched at all.

However, I understand you were just trying to help.

Considering the 11400f is 25 dollars cheaper than a 3600 where I live it would be worth it.

Why would it cost more?? Most of the decent AMD boards are more expensive that the Intel boards as @hwhendhah just realized.

You have an entire rig worth of hardware for budget flexibility.

If it's for gaming, you want cpu horse power combined with Gpu horse power. Hand in hand. Like PB&J.

yeah, the only real problem about 11400 is that a good motherboard costs $170, but you can also just cheap out and get a 70$ one

I'm just saying that unless I buy a 5600X or bigger, I have no reason to replace a dated 5ghz 8700K. That's where I'm at with it. A 3700X would actually be going backwards in performance.

11400K with the right memory kit likely do 4000mt/s no problem. There's a bit more performance to gain overclocking wise with Intel chips. Especially the lower end ones like 11400K. Fast memory, OC the core and cache... probably be 20% faster than the 3600X, this is a guestimate. About where my 8700K lands.

Lol! yeah intel's 11th gen was looking real bad, but the 11400, 11500, and 11600k really revived it for me. Can't wait to see the performance of the i3 11th gens.

I've been considering a 9900K or KF. Should slap right into my Hero X right? Oh the heat though.... Not so sure... Don't need the threads really, I don't stream anything.

Definitely 5600x 3060ti/6700 system for that budget (unless you already have a GPU). I went an hour away to Micro Center and got a 5950x today to replace my 5800x and they had 25+ of every Ryzen 5000 and had plenty of every RTX 3000 and Radeon 6000 in stock too. Blew my mind when I looked online and saw their stock. They don’t sell online at all (those things at least) and apparently no one is driving there to get them. If you’re within driving distance it’s worth it...mine was the Marietta, Georgia store.

Yes for sure. I am at least 1.75 hours away from the closest one. But has been worth the drive on a couple of occasions!
