Why Intel Stop Developing Atom CPUs?

I once had a laptop with an Intel Z3735F in 2015. The performance is good if you look at the whole price. I was able to play games like NFS Most Wanted (2005). For daily use, it is usable. It had a Windows 8.1, even when I upgraded to Windows 10, still it's responsive. 

 

The question is, why did Intel stop developing Atom chips? The Z3735F is still available in stores. It would be nice to see a better Atom chip with an affordable price, improved productivity, and graphics. Pentiums and Celerons are available, I know but isn't it a bit more pricey?

Atoms these days are really lousy price to performance. The fact that celerons and pentiums are close in price kind of just made atoms irrelevant since they really do kind of suck

I bet the ultimate final nail in the coffin for Atoms was just that their mainstream ULP Core parts were getting real close to the power draw of Atoms while also being quite a bit faster.

Back on topic, part of it is because most Atoms suck.

Atom chips were used in very different applications. From routers to laptops to spacecraft. First generation of Atom CPUs were so blatantly afterthought that the chipset that is paired with it would use 2-3x power that CPU would use. Overall Atom CPUs were not that great for computer use and too expensive for routers. Not to mention intel has better performing CPUs for mobile/ULV applications that Atoms only made sense if you were pinching cents off a device. You could also argue that the model name was well tainted before they decided to kill it off.
