Abnormally sharp / pointy solder back of mobo? Help!

Hey,

I'm not sure if the solder on the back of my asus b550-e mobo is abnormally sharp / pointy or not? It's probably normal, but, as a first time builder I'm taking extra precautions since I really can't replace these parts atm.

Thanks for the help,

Stay safe,

Lex

That's what mine feel like (B350-F Gaming, M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3, P4C800-E Deluxe, P3V 4X).

I just hold the boards by the edges and lower them in.

Ah ok, was worried it may touch the mobo tray in the case, but I guess the standoffs have enough depth to negate that. First time builder so I want to make sure i'm not overlooking anything xD and since I haven't actually held a mobo I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that sharp / pointy xD

Motherboard standoffs (per ATX specifications) must be at least 0.25" or 6.4mm. Nearly every motherboard/graphics card/ PCB I've come across are like that-don't bother with them. Last night, I was fixing my mouse and the PCB in there on the back side was digging into my mouse pad, due to how pointy they are.

those are feet of smds, and in my opinion, really pretty damn long and they have no reason to be that long. its probably still ok, but unnecessarily risky regarding shorts.  Or maybe the photos are misleading, but yeah, doesn't look too safe imo!

I didn't take great photos tbh, here are some more, couldnt find a ruler to measure them but they seem to be a bit smaller than a single gold pin on an iphone cable.

Good to hear, tbh im terrified of shorting the system and killing all my parts 😞

Not much taller no, perhaps a mm or two, so I guess i'm all good xD. Paranoid that ill short the board and the rest of the components. Just about managed to get a 2060 two weeks back for £366 and need this pc for for my courses in September. Plus I spent the last of my money so I don't have any re runs xD

Thanks for the help 😄

SMD's don't have feet. (And these aren't SMD's, these are through-hole, which have "legs")

But to the OP, these are the legs of the through hole components. Perfectly fine.
