Should I upgrade from i5-9400F to Ryzen 5 3600

So, I want to upgrade my pc from this:

CPU Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor

Motherboard MSI B360M BAZOOKA Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

RAM Kingston HyperX Fury 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 CL16 Memory

GPU MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB VENTUS OC Video Card

to this:

CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor

Motherboard Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard

RAM G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory

GPU MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB VENTUS OC Video Card

Is it worth it or should I save some more money and upgrade it more?

For gaming, I'd recommend a Core i5-10400/10600 or save for a Ryzen 5600X. The 10th Gen i5 would still be the prevailing bang-for-buck choice since it's on average ~$50 USD cheaper than the Ryzen 3600 and B460/H470 motherboards are comparable in price to B450 boards.

It's probably an even trade. You might get better multicore perf from the 3600, but that doesn't really matter as much in games. Overall, it's probably not worth the cost of the CPU and mobo.

Honestly, the best case scenario I can think of for an upgrade in that price bracket would be the i5-11400F but even that would require a platform change for a small performance bump. Is there a big reason to upgrade? I'd save the money for now.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

Thanks to all for your help.
So, is i5-10600K better than ryzen 5 5600x? Does memory speed matter much?

for ryzen yes, for intel until 10th gen it doesn't.

honestly if your aim is gaming i would change gpu not cpu. you are still good till drr5 comes out and becomes a bit cheap, lets say 2023/24.

ltt also has uploaded videos about that recently on techquickie

very good info on this ltt thread ----
