Mobile graphics card equivilancy

I'm looking at buying a laptop, and I'm looking for something that is the graphical equal of a GTX 980.

I haven't really bothered to do much research, so I'm hoping someone has and knows what mobile GPU is about the same as the desktop 980.

Not necessarily looking for something brand new, and would actually prefer knowing some older GPUs that are close, as I'll be buying the laptop used/old stock.

probably like a GTX 1060 would be a good point to shoot for. There were actual full 980s in laptops that perform close to a desktop 980 but the machines with them are gigantic and use a ton of power. The regular 980M is much slower.

Haha, yeah I don't want anything that big, plus people would probably be asking way too much for them on the used market.

Does it matter? You asked for mobile GPUs at desktop 980 level, thats your (slightly above) list.

you'd have to get a steal of a used laptop, i've seen the 4900hs+3060 for as low as 1200 and the 3070 version for 1500,

 

Anyway for a 980 i'd prolly look for a 2060 max-p~, but i'd be really surprised if u find one in the 800usd range.

1660 Ti is probably your cheapest option with some availability on the 2nd hand market. Not the Max-Q version though.

$1,200 and $1,500 are definitely more than I'd want to spend, I'd be looking at closer to $800 - $900 CAD.

Deals pop up if you look long enough, and I'm not in a huge hurry. Realistically if I don't find one I'll just get one without a dGPU and go without gaming for a few months.

Yeah that's kind of what I was looking at too. That, or potentially dropping down to the 1650Ti as that can be had in new laptops for not too much more than I was looking to spend on a used one.
