Old CRT monitors

Are old CRT monitors really that saught after for classic gaming? I've seen a few with starting bids of $100. I have one from the late 90's in my basement collecting dust, is it actually with something?

Specific models are valuable for various reasons. One reason they can be kind of expensive is that CRTs are actually getting somewhat hard to find. So many of them have been discarded and recycled that their numbers are dwindling even though vast amounts of them were made.

It's a DELL 17in from and XPS D300. I know that it's vga only and when last used was great. A quick search reveals that it is likey an M781s

There are some who like CRT monitors for their instant refresh, which is something that even the best gaming LCD monitors haven't been able to replicate.  You also can't play "Duck Hunt" on anything but a CRT display since the instant refresh is needed for the game to play.

 

Your monitor has an 85Hz refresh, so that's actually very nice for viewing since it won't have the flicker effect of a 60Hz CRT.
