unraid card advise HP H240

is a HP H240 (726907-B21) a good card for unraid?

 

and is it a good idea to put two in a setup for maximum sas possibility's?

Well it's a SAS3/SATA HBA. Assuming UnRAID has a driver for it it should work with the OS and it's storage implementation.

 

Just be sure to put it into HBA mode.

The H series from HP are all HBA only cards with their own firmware so it should be good to go 🙂

I might have been looking at the wrong HPE product brief page then.

 

Edit: Oh it's more complicated than that. It is an HBA but it supports "Simple RAID Mode" (0/1/5/10).

 

So it is an HBA but it comes with some RAID functions.

It should be okay. I've used a H240 before in a VMware machine and saw each drive separately just fine without any RAID applied.

No, it has HBA mode. I haven't personally used this card but I assume it's a setting you specify on system boot. (Ctrl+letter)
