Asus G512LW-WS74 RTX2070 Gaming laptop unstable - RMA and Asus says nothing wrong

ITScary

Good day!

Looking for some direction on how to proceed with a troublesome laptop which Asus says is fine..

Is my sons, which he bought with his own "Canadian Rubles" for *cough* school work... :-)

Nice features; but stability problems since day one. Been randomly locking up since it was bought about 6 months ago.  Would lockup sitting on the desktop, watching You-tube, working on home work in word, or playing high end games..

The issues have lessened with BIOS updates, and now mostly locks up under load when in turbo.

Sounds like a Jet Engine even more now with fans hitting 7,000 RPM (previous BIOS had them maxing out at about 5000)

Memory and SSD have been swapped, OS has been reinstalled many times with different windows versions from 1909 through 20H2.. Tested with and without Asus Drivers and utilities.. Propped it up for air flow; bought a laptop cooling pad.

Its a $2,000 gaming laptop which can't be used for Games..

Steps were documents on how to lock the machine up consistently which were provided when the laptop was RMA'ed to Asus.

They had a  look at it have said there's nothing wrong with it and want to send it back.

Its either a Lemon, or a design flaw (I googled and don't see lock up complaints so thinking Lemon)

I don't want them to send it back if the issue is still there. Honestly disappointed in Asus; and feel they're kicking the can down the road until its out of warranty

Any thoughts on what can be done?

IE. Contact Asus customer relations?  Post tons of details online of it locking up?

Thanks

Paul

send it back.

Luckily they still have it; but It'll go back if they return it with issues (Wasting our time having to re-send it in)

We replied re-stressing that the Gaming laptop is unstable when playing Games, and asked them to confirm they ran the steps, provided with the machine, to hang the machine.

They've since responded that we have bit-locker enable (which we didn't intentionally enable, unless its enabled on a fresh install by default) and is "is it ok to wipe and reinstall the machine"; so most likely they have now run the steps provided (verses just turning the machine on and consider it working), and went Doh, there is a issue. 🙂

Just wondering if there are any steps/tricks to run a complaint up the ladder when/if they send it back without fixing it (

Thanks for the reply
