So I have been debating with myself wondering whether or not I should get a 2000ish dollar pc with a 3080, 16 gb ram, and an i7 11700. I render things, use intensive applications, game at 1440p 165 hz (minecraft rtx and cyberpunk 2077 with rtx ultra). Is it worth it?

Honestly, yes. Even 3070 prebuilts at that price go in and out of stock, so a 3080 prebuilt of that price is worth it.

It actually depends on the specs. an i7 can run games very well and for the resolution and the hz, you'll have to look at the monitor. but for $2,000, and only a i7, it is not worth the price because you can build your own $2,000 pc with a ryzen 9 3900x and a rx5700xt also with 16gb ram. all for $2,000. there is a guy on youtube, named joey delgado, and he does pc builds with budgets up to $3,000. he did a $2,000 one and that is why I would go with the build-your-own instead of the prebuilt. you go with this prebuilt if you are scared you will damage any of the components.

thanks for the resolution. for some of my work applications, a 12 core cpu is a bit overkill. I aim to do graphically intensive workloads like rendering and something like deep learning which requires a lot of gpu muscle. I can't game with a 5700xt in minecraft rtx or cyberpunk rtx.

ok, think about it, an 11700k, and one of the most powerful gpus with gddr6x, if you spend 2000 dollars on a 3900x and a 5700xt when you could get a 3080 and a 11th gen i7, it might not be the best cpu, but it is much better then the 2000 dollar pc that this joey guy built, so I would recommend he go with the 3080 build, because building your own pc right now is a horrible idea unless you are rich

Don’t take everything I say seriously

take it with a grain of s a l t

Nor can you do any deep learning, since most frameworks only support nvidia. So yeah, go for that prebuilt as others said.

Current GPU prices is so silly at the moment I rather wait if I were you but here is a good example of how you could make a sub 2K build. 😐
