Need help finding connector for front motherboard controls

jhm3201

Hi, so I need help finding a connector or adapter for this style of connection. (pictured below). It is from an asus prebuilt, and it is what allows me to turn the PC on and off. Does anyone have any knowledge of what type of connector this is, and how would I put it into a conventional motherboard?

Is it proprietary? Looks like it just fits in normally as a normal front panel header.

It looks to be just the standard front panel header connections all in a group instead of individual. Hopefully, they didn't do anything weird like use a proprietary pin out on their mobo, that won't match up with whatever new mobo you have. The header will be labeled something like F. Panel and it will just be a bunch of pins in two rows, somewhere on the edge.

That might be a front panel audio or USB 2.0 header. Check the case manual or motherboard manual.

Looking at your pics I can see the mobo is a Z398 AORUS Ultra so with just a little looking by downloading the owners manual I found that the cable you have in your hand is the front panel connector.  That cable connects to the F.Panel connection on the mobo down in the extreme lower right hand corner.  Just make sure the machine is turned off when you go to plug it in.

Take Care and Good Luck.

I forgot the link to the mobo.  Here it is.

So the case is proprietary. Its a pre-built and the model number is G15CS.

It seems like it is proprietary. Because when I try to plug it into my board, it just wont fit at all. The reason being is because of a tiny hole on the bottom left of the pins. I was just thinking of drilling a tiny hole in it, but I dont think it would be a good idea.

I think you're plugging it into the wrong spot on the motherboard
