Nice, in this day and age you absolutely need an SSD for your main boot drive. I'd recommend Samsung or WD for SSDs. The HDD will still be good for mass storage of games though.

You forgot this: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler. All of the 5000 series Ryzen come w/o stock coolers. Also change to the same ram with faster timings: Crucial Ballistix RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16.

Also, i guess you noticed this is the price of the system w/o actually the price of the CPU and the GPU. In the end it will be about $2500

Other components draw as much power as they need.

PSU doesn't "pump out" power.

If components draw 400W then PSU will output 400W etc.

I edit my posts more often than not

Nothing. It's best to get a higher wattage PSU anyway, especially with your power hungry 3000 series GPU, which will likely consume more power than Nvidia says it will

Java Minecraft with long draw distances and lots of mods/resource packs/shaders needs an unbelievable amount of CPU & GPU power to run well. Dunno if that's OP's intention but that is a thing.

The same RAM with fully black heat-spreader and it HAS RGB. They used it in LTT videos many times.

updated the list:

(question: apparently my motherboard will require a BIOS update to support my cpu, what does that mean?)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PbbQ2V

It means exactly that - you might have to upgrade the BIOS in order for your CPU to be supported. The BIOS is, broadly speaking, the software within the motherboard, which is used to start the boot process among other things.

The main issue here is that most boards require you to have a CPU that is supported by the old BIOS to update to the new BIOS. AMD used to have a programme where they loan you a CPU for free so you can update the BIOS, I'm not sure if they still do that?

If you prefer you can simply solve this problem by just going for an earlier generation CPU (such as a 3600x). It will still be plenty fast enough for Minecraft for many years to come and might well save you a bit of money too.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Or he can go to basically ANY PC repair shop and ask them to upgrade his BIOS if he can't do it himself and will cost him like $10...

Idk how things are over there in your country, but here especially when you buy the parts from them, the shops offer to update your BIOS and firmware of any component FOR FREE before handing it over to you.
