BIOS Update Help

Go to solution Solved by breadywastaken,

EDIT:

It was just bad RAM, that's for your help!

So I decided to upgrade my TrueNAS server with a better motherboard, and got it built up, then realized I needed a BIOS update, as my CPU needs one to be compatible. The only issue is I have no way to update the BIOS, as I don't want to go buy a CPU just to update BIOS. Is there any way to update BIOS without spending a bunch of money, or is there another way to update my BIOS?

Relevant Part List:

CPU: Ryzen 5 2400G with Radeon Vega 11 Graphics

Motherboard: GIGABYTE B450 Aorus Elite

You can do the amd bootkit. You send amd your cpu, and they send you one to update the bios with.

Or you could have a local shop do it for you, if they offer that.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Are you sure you need to do a BIOS update?

The B450 chipset is from the same generation as the 2400G. The support list of the motherboard also mentions compatibility with the 2400G since version F1, which is the first BIOS version.

I did some research, and i am pretty sure that is the issue, as the cpu error lights up, then the dram error.

Yeah. B450 should support Zen 2 out of the box now, unless you just got one that's been collecting dust on a shelf for years. The 2400G is actually Zen, as well, not even Zen+, so I would definitely expect it to work right out of the box.

that's what I thought, but I am pretty sure that I need a BIOS update, as the CPU error lights up for a second, then the dram error stays lit, so i think it's a bios issue
