I have recently been considering an upgrade. I made the poor and uneducated decision while buying my computer to get an i5-9600k with a chipset that doesn't allow for overclocking. Now I want to know if I should just buy a z390-chipset mb or upgrade to z490 and go with a 10600k. I usually play games like simulators, rdr2, gta 5, minecraft and other lighter games. I also do light photo-editing. 

 

Is it worth it spending the $450 or so for the 10600k-z490 or should I settle for a $100 z390 mb off ebay?

(and yes overclocking is necessary because it's fun and I sometimes experience small CPU-bottlenecks especially in MSFS)

Yes, I do intend on overclocking. Even though my CPU is enough for most tasks I do encounter bottlenecks from time-to-time and for that reason I think it's going to be worth it.
