CPU Overheat

Hey everyone just a quick question Ive been wanting to overclock my cpu but I have had some pretty inconsistent numbers in terms of temps so I was wondering will my CPU just shutdown or freeze my PC if the overclock gets to high and it heats up to much?

If you CPU reaches it's TJ Max, it will throttle itself and attempt to cool down the CPU by lowering the amount of Load on the CPU.

Check what BIOS is set to. If you have something like 100C for shutdown then maybe change it to bit lower. I have it at 90C but I do manual cancel on stress test or shutdown when temps go over 87C.
