Gaming off a low spec laptop

I decided to create this topic because many of the people I know who enjoy gaming on a laptop have quite a low spec laptop to begin with so it got me thinking of what games are the best to play on low spec laptops? In my personal experience old FPS games are good if you have a USB mouse to plug in, also most simulation games are quite nice to play when your laptop can't handle the demands of newer games.

 

Can anyone suggest any specific games that they enjoy playing on low spec laptops?

Something turn based maybe? That way, your crappy framerate won't really hinder your gameplay :wacko:

I think those games are still hard to run on alot of systems. Gmod framrates get pretty bad in servers where there are alot of people. And teamfortress as well

i have friend who plays that and he has a really low end laptop from what he said to me so........he can but of course he should not expect butter smooth fps

most people i know who game on low end laptop won't even notice :P

I managed to play BF4 on my old laptop Celeron 1.3ghz (OC at 1.7) and 335m - 1366x768 All Low/Off 100% resolution scale

 

Actually ran ok, I managed a whole game without issue, averaged like 20-25 FPS which is terrible but smooth enough to play the game 

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

Just loaded up Left 4 Dead on my laptop and it runs pretty nicely, everything turned to low of course but still a very good game to have for casual use.

My old friend used to play on his laptop without a mouse for pc games

I bought that dude the nicest mouse in 09 lol

I couldn't play a game without 60-120fps anymore lol I HAVE BEEN DIRTIED BY THE 120hz!  :D

If I had one wish, I would ask for a big enough ass for the whole world to kiss

I didn't say i DO play games on it, just that I tried :P this is a computer that lives in a cupboard 

 

im pretty sure my currently rig (in my sig) and the new 780ti i just ordered will do just fine ;)

Lol, I was all about cheap laptops. I still am really but at least I have a dedicated gpu now.

 

I used an Apu to play Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3 and most of Skyrim. While it wasn't preferrable to play 720p, it still amazed my coworkers when I could game at lunch in the break room. It played early xbox 360 titles really well. A few guys started to rethink buying their third or fourth xbox after seeing my 300 dollar overclocked laptop outlived their consoles and I didn't pay for Live.

 

I tried coaxing them into desktops though, so I wasn't steering them down my misguided path.

I have a really bad laptop myself, and I enjoy playing Source games and some racing sims. iRacing barely runs on my machine, but Assetto Corsa and most of the SimBin titles are unplayable, even at the lowest possible settings.
